Innovative contemporary design - We offer you enduring pleasure.  It originates in the rich design culture of Tasmania, Australia's island state.  Tasmania has long had a focus of design in wood which originated in two areas - boatbuilding using the worlds most highly regarded boat building timber (Huon Pine) and in colonial furniture making using the rich brown tones of Tasmanian Blackwood.  Nowdays, we have many designers who thrive on  the challenge to innovate and express their ideas in product of international standing.  Many have won important awards and contributed to the Tasmanian Wood Design Collection that has toured in the US, Europe and Asia.

 

Respect for our environment - you can enjoy the exquisite beauty and warmth of our Tasmanian wood.  The wood that we use, each species with its own colour and features, is drawn from sustainably managed forests.  We take care to use our wood sparingly and wisely.  By using water based glues, natural plant based varnish and natural latex foam, we avoid loading the environment with volatile organic compounds.   The mirco-fibre upholstery option uses material that is efficiently recycled.  Better still, the wool fabric option, quite apart from being luxurious in its colour and design, uses wool produced under organic constraints.  Like wood, the wool is thoroughly biodegradable, though we have designed these pieces to have physical and aesthetic longevity.  The leather we use, is processed to the environmental standard SS-EN ISO 14001-1996.

 

Your living space - By using natural latex foam, water based glues, natural plant based varnish, and coverings such as organic wool and premium leather, we can be sure that we do not contribute to volatile organic compounds in your home or office.  More than that, wool fabric can actually add to indoor air quality.

 

The people who make our products - These are people in specialised firms with a committment to a safe and healthy working environment as well to quality.  While we use sophisticated computer controlled processes, eliminating toxic materials and processes minimises the risk of long-term accumulative negative outcomes.
