This is not just the designer's view. The Stave Stool has has won a major award - it was selected into the Tasmanian Wood Design Collection's permanent collection at its Biennial Grand Exhibition 2001. The Stave Stool was also judged the winner as "a furniture item with a major design component that is based on the sustainable application of Tasmanian regrowth or plantation eucalypt [and] designed for high quality manufacture and sale." The Stave Stool is currently part of "Aspects of the Tasmanian Wood Design Collection" which is now close to concluding its tourof regional Australia. The stool was named the Stave Stool because the laminated wooden legs reflect the shape of the staves used in wine barrels. The innovative use of timber and stainless steel reflect the finely honed skills of the cooper's art. A Popular Option Red Myrtle and Black Leather - The rich red colour of Tasmanian Myrtle is very much like American Cherry. This red wood used with black leather, adds a classic richness to a fun-loving sense of style. Fun to UseThe Stave Stool is really convenient. At counter height, you don't have to climb up onto it or sit down low - you can move on or off easily. It becomes one of those really useful things. It is also easy to move because it is light and strong. It is effortless to pick up and move to whatever place suits you. Further, the stool top is round so that you can sit on it from any position. The foot ring suits any position as well. Suits many situations The kitchen, cafe, restaurant or bar - these can be demanding environments for furniture. The laminated wood stool legs are light and strong. Coupling wooden laminations with stainless steel brackets and foot rings makes for uncompromising quality that will continue to function as it should and still look good. An added benefit for commercial situations is that the upholstered top can be removed separately for easy recovering. Wood is also a great material from a sustainability point of view. You can enjoy the fact that the wood we use is drawn from sustainably managed Tasmanian forests. In addition, we use it carefully by using veneers and plywood - the maximum advantage is gained from the miniumum amount of material. By coupling wood with a stainless steel foot ring, we are using materials where thery are best suited. The result is that the Stave Stool's wood and metal components won't deteriorate significantly in either function or appearance, even with heavy use. As mentioned above, wood choices give you colour options to suit your special needs. No extra shipping costs We take advantage of the efficiency of the postal service and the postage price is included in the price shown. There are no extra charges at the checkout. The stools pack 2, 3 or 4 to a custom designed box - for robust protection and efficient use of space. Australia Post's International Air sevice delivers within two weeks of dispatch. You are most welcome to use alternative shipping arrangements and we will be glad to negotiate these if you wish. Assembly The stools are sent to you with only that assembly done that does not hinder efficient transport. Assembly is straightforward with a clear instruction sheet and a tool supplied. You should allow 15 to 20 minutes per stool. Coverings The standard leather and wool fabric options are described in separate pages (see navigation list on left). We also stock Macro-suede by Warwick fabrics in the three common colours of Raisin (a rich dark brown), Stone (a light brown sandstone colour) and Graphite (a dark gray). Customer supplied options If you have a particular fabric or leather that you prefer, please obtain what you want locally and post it to us. Either, cut it into discs of 450mm (18 inch) diameter or ensure that the piece is big enough to cut the required number without compromise. When ordering please select the customer supplied covering option. It would help us if you would also email the details of your covering and when you sent it so that we can expect it and ensure that it is applied to your order in a timely way.
